Parkland Area Soccer Club (PASC) Weather Policy
Last Updated: March 2, 2026
Lightning & Thunder Safety is our strict priority. PASC follows the standard "See It, Hear It, Clear It" rule.
-
If thunder is heard or lightning is seen, play is suspended immediately.
-
All players, coaches, and spectators must leave the field and take shelter in hard-topped vehicles. Do not stand under trees or open pavilions.
-
Play cannot resume until 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder or sight of lightning.
Rain & Field Conditions Soccer is an all-weather sport. We play in the rain when possible and deemed safe by PASC and the partnering community.
-
Practices and games are typically cancelled for heavy downpours, standing water, or to prevent severe turf damage.
-
A PASC Board member works directly with the local townships to monitor field conditions.
-
Most often, the township officially closes the fields and PASC follows suit. However, PASC reserves the right to close fields independently if needed.
Extreme Heat
-
Mandatory water breaks will be enforced during high temperatures.
-
If the heat index reaches unsafe levels per US Youth Soccer guidelines, training or games will be shortened or canceled.
Extreme Cold
-
Players must wear appropriate layers (under the uniform, no exposed hoods) during cold weather.
-
Activities will be canceled if the wind chill drops to unsafe levels.
Communication Protocol Weather decisions are made as early as possible. All field cancellations will be communicated directly to parents by their coaches via TeamSnap. PASC usually communicates cancellations by 4:00 PM (EST).
